The upcoming April 2026 Tech Saturday Forum topic is one that may be of widespread interest throughout the Club. This month, we will be presenting a training session that will address some basic skills that all amateur radio operators should possess. Specifically, we will provide hands-on training on the installation of the following:
- Coaxial Cable Connectors — each attendee will construct a three-foot patch cable terminated with PL-259 connectors at each end;
- Anderson PowerPole® Connectors — each attendee will construct a two-foot power cable that has Anderson PowerPole® connectors at one end; and
- Standard Wire Terminals — each attendee will finish the power cable started in the step above by installing ring terminals to the wires in the power cable, enabling this cable to be used to connect a typical ham transceiver to a typical bench power supply.
This session will provide the attendees with the basic skills necessary to complete the tasks above, including the selection of the correct terminals as well as selecting the proper tool(s) for the task at hand.
Each attendee will leave the session with two completed and usable cables. There will be no fee charged to the attendees, as the Club leadership believes that the skills being taught are basic skills, and as such, this program is being funded by the Club.
However, registration is a necessity, as we must be able to prepare in advance, and to have adequate supplies on hand for the number of attendees anticipated. Please complete the registration form below of you plan to attend this session. The date of the session is Saturday, 4 April 2026, with the session beginning at 0900 hrs sharp!
